To get to know people their age from other.

To reflect on the idea of Europe that the books they read transmit and how their own culture can be integrated in this idea.

To read and know books from literatures different from their own.

To work with different age levels and share their experiences on the books they read.

To get to know people their age from other countries/cultures.

To make their own literatures known to the others.

OBJECTIVES

The idea of “Children’s Literature and Trans-European Citizenship” is to work with literature written for children/teenagers on the topic of Europe. As most of the countries that will take part in the project are situated in the periphery of the EU (Spain, Rumania, Lithuania, Poland, Turkey), it will be a reflection of the idea of Europe from the literature written for children and teenagers mainly in their own countries and compare it with the literature they mostly read sometimes in translations from more bestselling and canonized literatures. This field of research is linked to the activities promoted by the Jean Monnet Chair “The Culture of European Integration”, located in the University of Santiago de Compostela (Spain).
